Learn Secrets of a Healthy Skin from The Koreans
Koreans are known for having beautiful glowing healthy skin and the reason behind that is that they usually have a 10 to 14 steps skincare routine which includes cleansing, toning serum, antioxidants, face masks, eye balms, moisturizers etc. Their main focus is always on skincare no matter where they are. Their skincare products are also very lightweight, natural and safe to use. The products they use are specifically skincare oriented. Let’s run you through a Korean Skincare Glossary.
Ampoule
Ampoule is known as a skin treatment which is enriched with high levels of active ingredients. These are mostly stored and packaged in small containers or bottles with often small droppers as well. Ampoules are always used before serums and after essence.
BB Cream
BB cream stands for blemish balm or beauty balm which is made to give your skin a light coverage along with some skin aids. BB Creams also usually contain spf but should not be used instead of a regular sunblock.
CC Cream
CC Cream is a color correction serum. CC Creams are known to be quite similar to BB Creams in terms of coverage, several skin benefits and spf.
Cleansing Balm
Cleansing balms are similar to cleansers but they come in a slightly different form. They come in a semi-solid balm form. Cleansing balms can also be referred to as sherbat cleansers. This product is always used at the beginning of an evening skincare routine to get rid of makeup and sunscreen. It cleanses the skin evenly including the pores. Cleansing balms are usually applied on dry skin and then turn milky when water is touched.
Cleansing Oil
Cleansing oils are similar to cleansing balms. They are used to get rid of oil based impurities such as makeup and sebum.
Cleansing Water
Cleansing waters are also known as beauty water or micellar water. They are used to get rid of makeup and impurities deep inside the healthy skin. Cleansing water can sometimes also be used as toners or exfoliators.

Double Cleansing
Double cleansing is the first step in starting a night time skincare as it means to cleanse every impurity away. First, an oil-based serum is used to get rid of makeup, impurities and excess of sebum. It can be either liquid based or in a balm form. The second and final step of cleansing is using a water-based cleanser which removes any remaining impurities.
Essence
Essence is known as a skin treatment which put light on the skin type of health and is used in the skincare steps after cleansing and toning. Essence is used as a skincare product that adds extra hydration to the skin but in some cases it comes with other skincare benefits as well such as brightening and anti-aging.

Emulsions are used as a source of hydration because they are moisturizers and they come in a lotion like texture. They are typically used after essences and serums.
