Check PF balance without UAN

Finding out how much of a balance in their provident fund they have is a crucial financial activity that an employee may want to complete at the beginning of a new fiscal year. The employer and employee each make a fixed monthly contribution to the PF account of 12% of the employee’s basic salary, respectively. Without having to go to the PF office or ask the employer, there are several ways to check the PF balance. In this article, we have listed 4 ways to check the balance of your EPF (employee provident fund). Read on to find out.

Understanding EPF

Employee Provident Fund is the name given to the regular financial contributions made each month in the form of pay deductions by both the employee and the employer. The contribution is designated for employee retirement needs. Employees are permitted to withdraw the corpus amount to cover their retirement expenses at the time of retirement. The Workers’ Provident Fund Organization is in charge of overseeing the Employee Provident Fund (abbreviated to EPFO). As soon as you start working, your company opens an EPF account in your name. A member passbook and a Universal Account Number are generated together with the creation of the EPF account. You can access your EPF account online using the UAN at https://unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in/memberinterface, which is the official EPF website. The member passbook includes information about transactions and the amount of contributions. Using this page, you can also get a soft copy of your EPF passbook. The UAN must be activated on the site for first-time users. After activation, a member can use a registered password to access their account online. The easiest way to verify the EPF balance using UAN is with this procedure. Employees frequently don’t know what their UAN is or the UAN is inactive. Employees can verify their EPF balance in certain situations by either making a missed call or sending an SMS.

How to Check PF balance without UAN

The EPFO provides registered members with access to their EPF balance through its online portal. However, what if you don’t have a UAN or have lost yours? Be relaxed. The EPFO has made a number of steps to increase provident fund investments’ transparency for EPFO members. Customers can now see their PF or EPF balances without entering their UAN number thanks to system changes made by EPFO. But it’s important to keep in mind that you must be enrolled with the UAN portal and have your KYC documents linked to your EPF account in order to do this.

Check PF balance through the EPFO portal

Checking your EPF balance requires activating your Universal Account Number (UAN). A UAN is granted to workers who take part in the EPF scheme. While employed, a person should only have one UAN. Because the EPF process is now totally online, UAN is significant. Using UAN makes it straightforward to access PF account services like withdrawals, EPF balance checks, and loan applications. You can check your PF balance on the EPFO portal without a UAN by following the instructions below:
  • Step 1: Go to epfindia.gov.in to access the EPFO website.
  • Step 2: Choose “Click Here to Learn Your EPF Balance” from the menu.
  • Step 3: A redirect to epfoservices.in/epfo/ will take place. Find and click the “Member Balance Information” tab.
  • Step 4: Choose your home state and EPF office.
  • Step 5: Enter the necessary information, which includes the establishment code, PF account number, name, and registered phone number.
  • Step 6: Select “I agree” to accept the acknowledgment.
  • Step 7: Now click “Submit” to complete the process. Your PF balance will be displayed on the screen.

Check PF balance via an SMS

Upon the merging of your KYC data with the UAN, proceed as follows:
  • Send a text message (SMS) to 7738299899.
  • The text should be typed as “EPFOHO UAN ENG.”
You must choose your chosen language for communication in the SMS. To do so, only input the first three letters of the language you wish to use. If you want to receive updates in English, type EPFOHO UAN ENG, which is the first three letters of the language. If you want to receive message updates in Kannada, type EPFOHO UAN KAN. This service supports the following languages: English, Hindi, Punjabi, Gujarati, Marathi, Kannada, Telugu, Tamil, Malayalam, and Bengali.

Check PF balance through a missed call

Your EPF balance can be obtained by making a missed call from your registered mobile number to the designated phone. Your UAN and KYC data must be connected in order to use this service. You can ask your employer for help if you are unable to do this. Once your KYC information has been integrated with the UAN, adhere to the guidelines below:
  • Make a missed call to 9966044425 from your registered mobile device.
  • After placing a missed call, you will get an SMS with your PF details.

Check PF balance through UMANG app

With the help of the Unified Mobile Application for New-age Governance (UMANG) software, employees can check the EPF balance on their phones. In addition to checking EPF balances, claims can be submitted and tracked. To access the app, members must input their UAN-registered mobile number. Here’s how to view your EPF transactions using the UMANG app:
  • Get the UMANG app from Google Play or the iTunes Store.
  • On the “All Services” column, select “EPFO”.
  • Under the Employee Centric Service menu, choose “View Passbook”.

Steps to find UAN number

To track their PF, all employees are given a 12-digit number known as a universal account number (UAN). Employers can learn about EPF contributions thanks to the UAN number. Employees can maintain their existing accounts rather than opening new ones. The UAN, which the employee provides to new employers for contribution, is linked to the PF. The number can be utilised to withdraw money from PF accounts. The steps listed below can assist you in finding your UAN:
  • Step 1: Go to unifiedportal-mem.epfindia.gov.in, the site for the EPFO Unified Member Portal.
  • Step 2: Choose the “Know Your UAN” link under the “Important Links” section.
  • Third Step: A new page will open. Enter your mobile number and the captcha.
  • Step 4: Select “Request OTP”. You will receive an OTP on your phone.
  • Step 5: Enter the OTP. Complete the captcha.
  • Step 6: Click the “Validate OTP” button after that.
  • Step 7: A new page will load. At this moment, enter the captcha, name, DOB, PAN, Member ID, and Aadhaar number.
  • Step 8: From the menu, select “Show my UAN”. Your UAN number will be displayed on the screen.
Now that your UAN is displayed on the screen, write it down and set a new password for the UAN website so that you can obtain your PF passbook as well.
